Traveling with kids can be really stressful, particularly the idea of being in a contained shared space for several of hours. You hope they will be on their best behavior but honestly you just never know. Bringing the right entertainment can be a helpful way to make your trip go as smooth as possible.
Read below to check out some of my favorite travel toys and items.
For Babies
Suction Cup Spinners are a great sensory toy for even the tiniest baby. Just stick the spinner on a table, or the window of a plane, and let them enjoy.
This Baby Einstein spinner takes up some room in your packing, but it also comes with a suction and would keep baby entertained for a bit.
Pop its are light weight and easy to carry, so they are a no brainer.
Peek A Boo soft books are another easy to stuff in your bag item, that baby will enjoy reading, playing peek a boo with, and chewing.
For Toddlers
Montessori busy books are wonderful because they are lightweight and have all the little clips and buttons toddlers love. You can grab one on amazon, or order something very lovely on etsy.
The Water Wow! books are easy and mess free for on the go, and should keep your toddler (even a baby) fairly entertained.
Window stickers are so fun for this age! You can pick whatever theme your toddler loves such as animals, construction trucks, or dinosaurs.
Air Dry Clay, it’s like play doh, but with less mess. They also dry into whatever shape you make so then if it’s a really long flight, they will have another little toy to play with! I recommend only taking out 2-3 colors.
Regular Sticker books, small toys like cars or plastic animals, coloring items, engaging flap books and ALL the snacks are also key items for toddlers.
For snacks- choose bite size items like raisins, pretzels, berries etc. The longer they take to eat it, the better.
If you allow screentime, make sure you have downloaded all of the shows, packed child friendly headphones, and charged the ipad.
Affordable novelty toys that aren’t too heavy are always a great idea. I like to peep the dollar section in target and the dollar store to see if there is anything I think they may enjoy. Wrapping toys up as gifts will also add to the fun factor. Try to space out the toys during the trip rather than pulling them all out at once, and avoid items that can get too messy or will turn into you having to squat down under the seat to find.
